Fox has cast Kodi Smit-McPhee as the young version of Nightcrawler in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Bryan Singer announced the casting earlier today via his Instagram account.
The character was previously played by Alan Cumming, and appeared in X2: X-Men United. In the comics Nightcrawler has the power to teleport, and is the son of Mystique and Azazel, characters that have already appeared in Fox's X-Men Cinematic Universe.
Kodi Smit-McPhee might be most known for his performance in last year's 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes', and Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road'.
Smit-McPhee joins the already impressive young cast of X-Men: Apocalypse, with Sophia Turner playing Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan playing Cyclops and Alexandra Shipp playing Storm.
Directed by Bryan Singer and starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Oscar Isaac, X-Men: Apocalypse will hit the theatres on May 27, 2016.
