The CW has announced today that they're bringing back Amanda Pays from the original 1990s Flash TV series to reprise her role as Dr. Tina McGee. She is the second actor to join the show who starred in the original series, along with John Wesley Shipp, who played none other than The Flash in the 1990 series.
Though Shipp is portraying the role of Barry Allen's father in the new series, Pays will be reprising her role from the original series. Dr. Tina McGee is the brilliant geneticist who worked at S.T.A.R. Labs in the original series, and helped Barry Allen come to terms with his powers, however, in the new series she will be at a rival tech firm that has taken an interest in Barry's superpowers.
"When we decided to bring Tina onto our version of 'The Flash,' who better to get than the amazing actress who originated the part? Like with John Wesley Shipp, we are so proud and excited to have another actor from the original series join us on our new adventures for Barry Allen," said Andrew Kreisberg, the executive producer of the series, regarding the casting.

After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.
The Flash will premiere on October 7th, 2014 on The CW and will feature a cameo from fellow DC/CW superhero, The Arrow.
