Marvel has cast James D'Arcy (Broadchurch, Cloud Atlas) as Edwin Jarvis in the upcoming new series, Agent Carter.
Fans might be familiar with J.A.R.V.I.S. as Tony Stark's trustworthy AI-butler who is voiced by Paul Bettany in the movies. Edwin Jarvis, however, is the true to comics family butler of the Starks, who is very much a human. Marvel reports that Jarvis "help Peggy (Hayley Atwell) navigate her way through what may be her most dangerous mission yet!"
Considering that Edwin Jarvis has deep ties with Howard Stark, he's his butler after all. It seems only a matter of time before Marvel announces the casting of Howard Stark in the series. Interestingly, Howard Stark has been played by two actors in the MCU, so it remains to be seen which will be cast for the show. The first appearance of Howard Stark was in Iron Man 2, where he was portrayed by John Slattery (Mad Men) in an old video recording. Later on Dominic Cooper (Need for Speed) portrayed a younger version of the character in Captain America: The First Avenger. John Slattery is also slated to return to the role in the upcoming MCU movie, Ant-Man.
