20th Century Fox has officially announced that it's going forward with the Deadpool movie. It has been given a release date of February 12, 2016.
The project, which was previously considered in a state of limbo, recently had its test footage leaked on the internet. With an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the footage, it's hard to believe that that it didn't have a footing in the decision to bring the project back to life.
Tim Miller is still on board to direct the movie. However, as of now it's not confirmed if Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as the merc with a mouth, though it's highly likely. Reynolds, of course portrayed the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and even provided his voice for the character in the leaked test footage.

Reynolds was recently asked about the leaked footage in an interview with Niagara Falls Review, and said, "The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.' It's interesting to see the power of the Internet. It's awe-inspiring, actually. And it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way."
