Netflix has renewed Marvel's Daredevil for a second season, that will continue the Man Without Fear's fight against crime in 2016. After the spectacular success of the show's first season, many fans were clamouring for it to get a second season, and it seems Netflix has listened to them.
Entertainment Weekly broke the news today, however, they also reported that current showrunner Steven S. DeKnight will be stepping down as the showrunner due to previous commitments. Writers, Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez will be taking over his role. Petrie and Ramirez served as writers of the show for the first season, so the show seems to be in good hands.
"While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season," DeKnight explains, "I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can't wait to see what they do with the show moving forward."
Netflix's original plan was to create four Marvel series, Daredevil, AKA Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, followed by a teamup show of these heroes, The Defenders. However, Daredevil now seems to be getting the Iron Man treatment, with him getting two seasons before he joins the Defender series.
Marvel's Daredevil season 2 will premiere in 2016.
