At today's TCA press tour, Nina Tassler, President of CBS, was asked if we could see their in-development show, Supergirl crossover with Arrow/Flash that air on The CW. Her reply made the crossover potential seem less than likely. "Well, those two shows [The Flash and Arrow] are on a different network," she said. "So I think we'll keep Supergirl to ourselves for awhile."
When Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW was asked the same question earlier, he seemed more enthusiastic regarding the prospect, however, he too understood that it won't be that easy to see those shows crossover. Greg Berlanti, who is producer on all three shows said, "we have to get so many things right to make a good show and so much of it is luck, unfortunately."
In recent days, rumours of Supergirl crossing over with DC/CW universe were very prominent, mainly due to the fact that they are being developed by the same production house, as well as because CBS co-owns The CW. But now it seems those rumours may not come to fruition after all.

Tassler provided some more details about the show as well, when asked who could play the role of the iconic superhero, she said, "When you've got a brand like that, it'd be great to have somebody new." She also added, "She’s got to be an every woman. She’s got to be specific. She’s got to be a terrific actor. [We're] looking for someone who embodies both the freshness and the exuberance of being a young woman in today’s challenging climate and being someone who can carry this kind of series on her shoulders. It’s a big, big show." Tassler also revealed that the costume has already been created by Colleen Atwood (Arrow/Flash) and said that it's an "awesome costume."
Another question that popped up was what makes Supergirl a good fit for CBS. To answer that Tassler cited her role in the development of ABC's Lois and Clark. "These are human dramas," she reflected. "And in terms of the public, there are so many superheroes portrayed in film. And there's been an evolution in regards to the way they are portrayed. They have humanity, they're flawed."
When talking about the character itself, she described Kara as "infinitely relatable" and the show as a "great adventure" series. "It's a wonderful amalgamation of the mythology of the character with a coming of age tale," she explained. "She's a very strong, independent young woman and she's coming into her own. She's dealing with family issues. She's dealing with work issues. And it's a female-empowerment story, which if you look at the strong female characters we have on the air, it really is resonate to that. We’re big feminists. It’s her intellect, it’s her skill, it’s her smarts. It’s all of those elements. It’s not just her strength, which she does have."
Supergirl is in development by Greg Berlanti for CBS, and currently no premiere date has been assigned to the show.
