Benedict Cumberbatch, best known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series, has joined the Warner Bros. production, The Jungle Book: Origins, as Shere Khan.
Jungle Book: Origins is one of the two movies based on the tale currently in production, and is being directed by Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes). The movie will be Serkis' directorial debut, with Steve Kloves, and his daughter Callie Kloves writing the screenplay.
Cumberbatch is the first actor to join the cast, and definitely a great pick for the role. Although, it will be interesting to see who fares better, as Disney's version has also casted Idris Elba in the same role, which is also a great choice.
The Jungle Book: Origins hits the theaters on October 21st, 2016.
