This season's most shocking moment in superheroverse has undoubtedly been Stephen Amell's Arrow's untimely demise by the hands of Ra's Al Ghul. Lots of theories popped up on the internet as soon the episode was aired, with most speculating the involvement of Lazarus Pit in order to bring back the fallen hero.
Talking to Collider about the topic, Stephen Amell said, "We just saw him fall. We’ve seen Oliver survive. So, [we don’t know] whether he went straight off the cliff, whether something broke his fall, whether he hit the ground. We have mystical herbs on the show that have healing powers. We’ve seen a Lazarus Pit, although that’s not something that’s going to be used for Oliver. I hope he survives. I like playing him."
For the uninitiated, Lazarus Pit is a sort of fountain of youth in DC Universe, with the added power of bringing back dead heroes/villains, albeit with some change in their personality that's usually for the worse. Lazarus Pit is most famously associated with Ra's Al Ghul himself, which has allowed him to survive for all these centuries. In the comics, Jason Todd's Robin was also subjected to the Pit after he was brutally killed by The Joker. When he came back to life, the Pit changed him in ways unimaginable to Batman, and finally turned the once innocent Robin to the ruthless Red Hood.
So now that the Lazarus Pit is out of the equation, what do you think could bring Oliver back to life? More importantly, did Oliver even die or were we just fooled into thinking so? Although, we can't imagine how any human could survive that fall along with a stabbing that brutal...but hey, this is the land of comicbooks where anything is possible.
Arrow will return this Thursday with its tenth episode, titled "Left Behind."
