The CW's Arrow will finally officially acknowledge the existence of the infamous Lazarus Pit in this week's episode. Hints of the Pit have been dropped throughout the season, with many fans even speculating that Arrow will be resurrected using its powers, after his apparent faux-death during the mid-season finale.
"All year long we've been teasing what comic book fans know as the Lazarus Pit. We'll learn a lot more about that in 316," Executive Producer, Marc Guggenheim, told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview. Superpowers have already been included in the Arrow-verse, with the Flash featuring them front and centre. But according to Guggenheim, magic suits the show much better. "The world of magic fits pretty well into the world of Arrow," said Guggenheim. "We've already seen superpowers on the show. Once you've seen super powers, the occult and magic — that actually fits better in Arrow than superpowers."
In the comics, Ra's al Ghul is shown to be an immortal being, using the powers of the Lazarus Pit to rejuvenate himself as and when he sees fit. However, it's unclear if the same is true in the show, or if the powers of the Pit are more limited in it. Perhaps, this is the reason Ras wants Oliver to take his position?

Stephen Amell also talked about Ras al Ghul's offer for the Arrow to become the new Ras al Ghul. "The League operates the way that Ra's wants it to operate — whoever Ra's is. So if you want them to stop killing, they stop killing," Amell says. "Whether or not that's true, remains to be seen. I would say Ra's in the beginning of episode 16, makes a pretty good sales pitch."
Furthermore, he said Oliver is still not over his loss against Ras al Ghul, and his pride is still very much hurt. "There is a prideful part of him that can't totally take losing," says Amell. "That's not just going to go away because he got a job offer."
Arrow will return with new episodes on March 19 on The CW.
